In the face of limited institutional capacity and underutilization of health and nutritional care facilities, we established the Swiss Heidi Foundation (SHF) in 2010, under the Indian Trust Act of 1976. Our organization draws its name from the Swiss novel, Heidi, penned by Johanna Spyri, a work devoted to the cause of children. The novel’s central theme - the restorative and healing power of nature - resonates deeply with our mission. This classic novel was translated into Odia by Mrs. Manasi Das, marking the first translation of this work into an Indian language. The book, now exhibited in a renowned museum in Switzerland, has greatly influenced our Trust’s naming and ethos. We are dedicated to the cause of children’s health, and we have adopted this theme as our leitmotif.
